(19) Tsukimi-yama Udon of Maruka in Ochanomizu, Tokyo

Tsukimi-yama Udon of Maruka in Ochanomizu, Tokyo.
Near Hilltop Hotel and Hotel Niwa Tokyo.

This shop is famous for the authentic Sanuki-udon.
Sanuki-udon is different from others at the point of its chewiness and smoothness, topped with a small amount of flavored soy sauce.
Ordinary udon is a little soft and fragile in a bowl of soup.

The lead character of "Kafka on the shore" by Haruki Murakami, Kafka Tamura, ate and was impressed for the deliciousness.

People, especially those from Kagawa prefecture, say that udon in Tokyo is totally different from one of Kagawa.
But this shop's is equivalently delicious, I think.

Tsukimi-yama I ate is udon with raw egg and freshly-grated yam, both of which are topped in udon in general.
Especially, raw egg is usually inedible in other countries.
